The Whitefish Chain of Lakes is located in Crow Wing County in Minnesota with 14 interconnected lakes including Arrowhead Lake, Bertha Lake, Big Trout Lake, Clamshell Lake, Cross Lake, Daggett Lake, Hen Lake , Island Lake, Loon Lake, Lower Hay Lake, Lower Whitefish Lake, Little Pine, Rush Lake and Upper Whitefish Lake. The construction of the dam at Crosslake in 1886 raised the water level, making channels between Cross Lake, Upper and Lower Whitefish Lakes, and 13 other lakes, which now comprises the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. Today, the dam maintains the water level at a fairly constant level. This 13,660 acre body of water, has 119 miles of shoreline with a maximum depth is 138 feet and provides dozens of interesting bays for recreational boating, fishing, snowmobiling and sightseeing. Excellent fishing can be found throughout the Whitefish Chain of lakes. There are many resorts and restaurants on the Whitefish Chain as well as places to refuel your boat. There are approximately 25 golf courses within a 30 mile radius of the Whitefish Chain. Cities near the Whitefish chain of lakes include Crosslake, Manhattan Beach, Pequot Lakes, Breezy Point and Pine River.
